- Jerry Bruckheimer recently spoke with MTV about Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, here is what he had to say…
On Pelelope Cruz: "She plays the daughter of Blackbeard. She's the daughter of the bad guy. She brings a lot of humor to it. And the fact that she's so feisty. There will be a little romance between [Depp's] Captain Jack and the character that Penelope plays."
On The Film's Direction: "We're going to take a whole new direction."
- Bruckheimer also confirmed that Geoffrey Rush, who played Captain Barbossa in the first three films, will be returning for the fourth installment. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is set for a May 20th, 2011 release. Here is video of the MTV interview…

I'm glad Geoffrey Rush is coming back. Originally I had heard that the 4th movie was going to be more of an odd couple movie with Barbossa and Sparrow having to team up for an adventure.

One thing i have to honestly say is that, i really loved the third movie because it had the really really cool maelstrom scene, and that was sooooo awesome wacthing it in the theaters back in may 2007. I hope they have some really cool scene in Pirates 4 like that or something as crazy as that, because i'd absolutely enjoy it like it did with Pirates 3. Come on Jerry Bruclheimer and Rob Marshall, don't disappoint us with your first movie you guys make together now!. I know that Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush and Penelope Cruz and Ian McShane wont disappoint us at all!, it's goint to be an AWESOME MOVIE TO SEE!=).

No, Johnny Depp is still in, and now he is staying with the franchise!. Its been confirmed he wont be leaving it now!.
